A stable classic edition with the familiar Windows interface. Choose it if you prefer the traditional workflow.

Choosing between Desktop and WPF; where to install

Desktop and WPF mainly differ in their interface technology and layout. They do not deliver different network performance when using the same subscription. Whether a subscription works depends on its configuration, core support, and network conditions. If you already have a working setup, back it up before trying the other edition. This keeps interface migration separate from subscription troubleshooting.

The download is a ZIP archive. Extract all files to a writable folder, then run the installer or client included in the package. Do not launch it from your archive utility's temporary folder. If Windows reports a missing runtime dependency, install the required component as prompted. Avoid moving individual program files, as other files in the same folder may be needed.

System architectureBoth downloads on this page are x64. Check your system type in Windows Settings.
Windows versionCheck the current release's system support notes before installing. Older Windows versions may also require specific runtime components.
Install locationExtract all files, preserve the folder structure, and make sure the configuration folder is writable.
Proxy connectionFor browser use, start by configuring the system proxy. Enable TUN only if needed; it may require administrator privileges.

After installing, import and update a subscription, select a configuration, then enable “Set system proxy automatically.” If the core has not started successfully, changing the system proxy setting alone will not create a working connection. Restore the system proxy before quitting to prevent your browser from pointing to a stopped local service.

After installation: subscriptions and proxy modes

Installing the client gives you a tool for managing configurations and starting a service. Subscriptions, routing rules, and how traffic connects to the system still need to be set up separately.

First install and update checklist

Check installation, configuration, and traffic routing separately. Confirm each step before moving on to make issues easier to pinpoint than changing several settings at once.

First install: configure first, then route traffic

Get a valid V2Ray subscription link, add it to a subscription group, and update the group. Subscription links and single-configuration links serve different purposes, so use the appropriate import option. If no entries appear after updating, check the link type, access requirements, and client logs. Repeatedly enabling global proxy will not fix an import problem.

Select a configuration and make sure the service starts normally. Then set up the system proxy or VPN mode for your platform. Browsers and other apps may use different network settings, so access in one app does not mean all apps follow the same route. If you need to change traffic routing, note the current rules and adjust them one at a time.

Updating the client: keep settings you can restore

Before updating, back up subscription groups, manual configurations, custom routes, and DNS settings, and note the local listening ports. Stop the service and quit the old client before installing or replacing it. After updating, check that your configurations load and the core starts before restoring the system proxy or other connection modes.

Updating the client and updating a subscription are separate tasks: the first replaces the program and related components, while the second refreshes configuration entries. If a subscription update fails, check the source and error message rather than assuming the installer is outdated. Logs and screenshots may contain configuration credentials; remove sensitive details before sharing.

Download and installation FAQs

Windows Desktop or classic WPF: which should you choose?

For a first install, try Desktop, which uses a modern cross-platform interface. Classic WPF retains the familiar Windows workflow and may suit users accustomed to it. Both editions require a valid configuration. Back up subscription groups and routing settings before switching, and avoid having both clients manage the system proxy at the same time.

For Android, should you download arm64 or the universal version?

Most mainstream phones released since 2015 can use arm64, but make sure the operating system supports 64-bit apps. A 64-bit processor does not guarantee 64-bit OS support. Choose the universal build if you cannot confirm the device architecture or arm64 is reported as incompatible. It supports multiple architectures and is usually larger.

Why is there no usable configuration after installing the client?

The client imports configurations, runs the proxy, and manages routing; the installer does not include a subscription service. Add and update a subscription link you manage or are authorized to use, then select a configuration. On desktop, enable the system proxy if needed; on Android, approve the system VPN connection.

What if the architecture shown on the download button does not match my system?

Use your operating system's architecture and package format as your guide. On macOS, check About This Mac to distinguish Apple Silicon from Intel. On Linux, confirm x64 or arm64 and whether your distribution uses deb or rpm packages. The Windows downloads on this page are x64 and are not native installers for other architectures.

Which settings should I keep before updating the client?

Back up subscription groups, manual configurations, custom routes, and DNS settings. Then stop the service and quit the old client. After upgrading, check that your configurations are still available and that the core starts correctly. Never share backups publicly if they contain subscription links or identity details.

What should I check if a download fails or the file will not install?

Make sure the download is complete, there is enough disk space, and the package matches your system. On Android, check the architecture, permission to install from the selected source, and any signing conflict with an existing app. On desktop, review system alerts and runtime dependencies. If a download link is temporarily unavailable, try again later; changing the file extension will not fix an installation problem.
